Hospital Overview
Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health (CDBH) is a state of the art 112 bed psychiatric hospital located in Leland, NC. CDBH opened its doors in 2008 to patients struggling with a variety of mental health and behavioral health challenges. This hospital’s programs include:
- Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)
- Adolescent Inpatient Program
- Senior Adult Inpatient Program
Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)
Carolina Dunes’ 72 bed PRTF is designed to support male and female adolescents who are experiencing on-going symptoms of psychiatric disorders, behavioral disorders, or emotional illness. Adolescents appropriate for admission to the PRTF program will demonstrate some or all of the following criteria:
- Males and females ages twelve (12) to seventeen (17) years old
- Multiple previous hospitalizations or failure to succeed at lower levels of care
- IQ above 70
- DSM V Diagnosis
Adolescent Inpatient Program
Our 20 bed Adolescent Inpatient Program provides stabilization and treatment for patients, ages 12- 17, who are in psychiatric crisis and cannot be maintained safely in their communities. This program is designed for patients who are exhibiting one or more of the following:
- Imminent risk for self-injury, with inability to manage or develop safety plan
- Suicidal or homicidal thoughts
- Anxiety or Depression
- Psychological concerns due to trauma
Senior Adult Inpatient Program
Our 20 bed Senior Adult Inpatient Program provides stabilization and treatment for patients, ages approximately 50+, who are in psychiatric crisis and cannot be maintained safely in their communities. Patients appropriate for admission to the Senior Adult Inpatient Program will exhibit some or all of the following:
- Ages approximately fifty (50+) years and older
- Imminent risk for self-injury, with an inability to manage or develop a safety plan
- Sudden on-set of behavioral changes due to psychiatric condition
- Severe Depression, Hallucinations, or delusions
- Medically Stable
